Today is your birthday and I am not there to wish you well, give you a big hug and a sloppy kiss. That was my plan, but we live 1,885 kilometres apart so we may have to postpone until next time.
If my maths serves me well, you are now six years old. It’s a very important age for you for many reasons. The first, and most important, is that you are now a year closer to getting your driving licence. Then, you can drive a nice Chevy, like Daddy.
You will now start forming your own opinions, and your Daddy will try to make you believe that his opinions are more important – that, as we both know, is rubbish. In fact, I can confirm that butterflies do have eyelashes and worms do think and also like to play.
Your brain is now fully grown – that’s because you are a girl. Your Daddy’s brain is still in the early stages of growth and I think mine will only start growing next year (that’s because we’re boys). It is now the time in life when you will start lying. It’s pretty normal. I’m not sure your Mummy and Daddy will be very please, but that’s life.
There are also some other things, but these are true:
- Lobster’s blood is light blue, not red like ours (Cool, eh?)
- Cats have 32 muscles in each ear
- Starfish have two tummies (that’s why they cry a lot when they have a tummies ache)
- Sharks have no bones
- There are more chickens in the world than any other bird (Ask Daddy to tell you the chicken jokes…)
- There are 1,000 types of bats ion the world (scary)
- You have around 100,000 hairs on your head, I have 12
- Your eyes blink 4 million time a year
- A snail can have 25,000 teeth
- Caterpillars have 4,000 muscles
- There are 4,000 grains of sugar in a spoonful
Huh, who would have guessed – 25,000 teeth!
Now, it’s probably time for you to go to bed (actually, I’m a bit tired, too). I’m sure Mummy made you a great cake. Did you keep a piece for me? And what pressies did you get? I’m waiting to hear…
Oh, by the way, I still have the little Hello Kitty card you gave me. I keep it in my wallet – it’s been there since you gave it to me. It is my little reminder of a great girl.
Tonight, before you sleep, look up to the stars. I’ll do so, too, which means we’ll be seeing the same thing. Happy birthday, Abbey! Take care. S
